Dr. Rachel Alipui grew up in Northern New Jersey. She completed her BS in Animal Science from Cornell University. She then went on to do gene therapy research at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. In 2008, Dr. Alipui received her degree in Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University. Shortly before joining the team at VCA Iselin Animal Hospital, Dr. Alipui worked in small animal practice in Missouri, as well as in Ithaca, New York. In her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors, cooking, listening to NPR radio, and spending time with her husband, two children and their dog, Mila.
Dr. Shannon Skevakis was born and raised in Arizona, where she fell in love with all the wildlife and domestic animals that she encountered. She was fascinated by them and their way of life at an early age. She remembers her parents taking her on trips to zoos, aquariums, farms, and national parks. It was at a young age, she knew she wanted to be a veterinarian. Dr. Skevakis' graduated with a Bachelor's from the University of Arizona (GO CATS!) and headed to Orlando, Florida to work as a Marine Mammal Intern at The Seas, EPCOT at Walt Disney World. She had her sights set on becoming a marine mammal veterinarian at the time. After this, she worked as a veterinary technician, took graduate courses in conservation biology, and worked her way into veterinary school.She graduated a University of Florida gator in 2011 with her Aquatic Animal Health certificate and went into small animal practice. Dr. Skevakis stayed in Florida for 2 years practicing small animal medicine. In 2013, she moved to New Jersey to be closer to her husband's family. Dr. Skevakis has a tabby cat, pitbull dog, and a ball python snake.
Dr. Natalie Fickel is originally from Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She received her Bachelors in Biochemistry from Elizabethtown College, right outside of Hershey, Pennsylvania. She completed her internship at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Tinton Falls before joining the Iselin team in August 2013. Dr. Fickel has special interests in ophthalmology, surgery and ultrasonography. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking and baking. She loves bringing in baked goodies for the staff to enjoy. Dr. Fickel is the proud owner of Nika and Ellie, two domestic short haired cats, and Rocco, a bearded dragon.
